This watercolor painting captures two Great Tailed Grackles posturing & squawking. During mating season, they put on a show to see who is the sexiest. They fluff their iridescent shimmering black-purple feathers, raise their beaks up & strut around.
These urban birds gather in HUGE flocks in Austin Texas. They're LOUD with a fantastic repertoire of sounds.
