Description
This is a close-up view of palm fronds & the trunk of a coconut palm tree. I took this photo while on vacation & enhanced it with a digital watercolor brush.
Coconut trees are always in the process of growing fruit. Male & female flowers alternately bloom from a sheath-like pod "Spathe". The male petals open first, attracting bees with sweet nectar for a few days before drying out & falling off the tree. Next, the little round female flowers open & once pollinated, they mature into coconuts in about a year.
I never tire of looking at all the beautiful intricacies of this tree!
