This palm tree watercolor painting captures a close-up view of the palm fronds, trunk, leaves & flower stems of a coconut tree.
Flowers originate from a sheath-like pod "Spathe". The male petals open first, attracting bees with sweet nectar for a few days before drying out & falling off the tree. Next the little round female flowers open & once pollinated will mature into coconuts in about a year.
This is a personal favorite, the original painting is hung in my living room grouped with my "Sunlit Palm Fronds" & "Coconuts" paintings.
I never tire of looking at these beautiful trees! -
