This watercolor painting captures a close-up view of palm fronds & flower stems of a coconut palm tree. The coconut palm is considered "The Tree of Life" as it has so many uses.
Flowers originate from a sheath-like pod called a "Spathe". The male petals open first, attracting bees with sweet nectar for a few days before drying out & falling off the tree. Next the little round female flowers open & once pollinated will mature into coconuts in about a year.
This is a personal favorite, the original painting is hung in my living room grouped with my "Sunlit Palm" & "Coconuts" paintings.
I love looking at these beautiful trees both in nature & in art!
