The Longhorn breed of cattle is the mascot for the University of Texas, Austin. "Bevo" has Burnt Orange & White coloring, which are the school's colors.
The shape of the Longhorn's head & horns gives rise to the UT "Hook 'em Horns" hand signal, extending the index & pinky fingers while folding the others down.
Longhorns are a common sight on the open landscape of Texas Hill Country. Expansive pasture fields with oak trees & watering holes (tanks) add to the overall natural beauty of the Southwest Landscape.
